Paul F. Ware is a partner and was Chairman of the Litigation Department at Goodwin Procter from 1996-2010. Goodwin Procter is an international law firm with offices in Boston, New York, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Silicon Valley, London and Hong Kong. Mr. Ware has been a member of the firm's Executive Committee and Management Committee. As a senior trial partner, his practice has included substantial criminal, civil and intellectual property litigation.
WORK FOR CLIENTS
Mr. Ware has represented numerous companies in significant civil litigation, including Philip Morris (“Lights” cigarette class action and individual cases), General Electric (environmental class action and patent cases), Eli Lilly (RICO litigation against generic manufacturers), Pyramid Corporation (RICO and breach of contract), Harvard University (litigation arising out of a federal grant to the Harvard Institute for International Development in advising the Russian government), Countrywide and Bank of America (mortgage insurance litigation) and RBS Citizens Bank (trademark litigation).
He has tried numerous cases to conclusion in federal and state courts and has represented companies at trial in the courts of each of the New England states, California, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Wyoming, Texas and Pennsylvania.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Ware is a member of the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1989.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Ware has previously served as special counsel by appointment of the Attorney General of Massachusetts and subsequently by the Supreme Judicial Court. Most recently he served as Independent Counsel to investigate and report to the court on corruption and fraudulent hiring practices at a state agency. He also served as Special Assistant Attorney General to investigate and prosecute companies responsible for the “Big Dig” tunnel collapse in Boston. He has been a member of the U.S. Magistrate Merit Selection Panel for the First Circuit.
Mr. Ware is a former law clerk to a Judge of the United States District Court in Boston, Massachusetts. He previously served as Assistant United States Attorney (Department of Justice) in Boston as a Federal Prosecutor.

Mr. Ware is a member of the state bars of New York, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia and of the federal bars in Northern California, Michigan, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is admitted to the United States Courts of Appeals for the First, Third, Sixth, Ninth and Federal Circuits.
