Areas of Practice
Andrew Baca is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, and a member of the Intellectual Property Group. He focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law including patent litigation, patent prosecution and counseling related to electronics, telecom, software, business methods, the Internet and other areas. Mr. Baca joined Goodwin Procter in 2007.
Work for Clients
Mr. Baca has experience obtaining and enforcing patent, trademark and other intellectual property rights for both corporate and individual clients, domestic and foreign. Work he has done on behalf of clients includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, participating in personal interviews with examiners, representing clients before the Board of Patent Appeals and preparing requests for Ex Parte Reexamination. Mr. Baca also has experience in a variety of intellectual property litigation matters, including claims involving patents, and matters before the International Trade Commission.
Professional Activities
Mr. Baca is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Baca was an associate at Sughrue Mion PLLC in Washington D.C. While in law school he was a student clerk at the U.S. Tax Court and an intern at the Department of Justice, Criminal Division.
Bar and Court Admissions
Mr. Baca is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and California, and as a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
