Mentoring

Mentoring

One of the hallmarks of a traditional law practice is the apprentice/mentor relationship. Most people only see the benefits to the apprentice, not the mentor. At Goodwin Procter, effective mentoring is a two-way street, and an essential part of our culture. We’ve created more opportunities for better mentoring relationships through interactive staffing protocols, hand-on training programs, practice area meetings, and other programs.  We have also developed a firm-wide Advisor Network, through which partners collaborate to provide associates with mentoring, career guidance and feedback that is tailored to associates' career stages. As a result, strong mentoring relationships are formed and associates receive effective coaching because our advisors are engaged and focused on career development. We evaluate our Advisor Network regularly to ensure that everyone involved benefits from the experience. We also work with external coaches to ensure attorneys are developing the professional skills needed to advance in their careers.
